John Robert Powers (April 16, 1892 - July 21, 1977) an American actor and founder of a New York City-based model agency.
In 1923, Powers established a modeling school. The John Robert Powers Agency represents a model that desires success in the Hollywood film industry. While Powers clients are very much women, schools also represent some men. This agency is the subject of a 1943 musical comedy, The Powers Girl , in which Alan Mowbray plays Powers and features Anne Shirley and Carole Landis as an aspiring model.

Controversy
John Robert Powers' franchise has been criticized for using high-pressure sales tactics and misleading advertising. John Robert Powers USA insists that it is not an agency and does not make a percentage of talent income.
Better Business Bureau Los Angeles believes that Powers conforms to the definition of "talent agency" and "reward agent" under California law. However, the BBB notes that Powers will "no doubt deny that they are [agency type]" and that the Powers contract does not use such provisions. The Los Angeles BBB further notes:
The JRP website includes photos of famous personalities and other celebrity names as graduates. Pictures of celebrities like Lucille Ball, Marilyn Monroe and John Wayne hang in the franchise lobby. Better Business Bureau Los Angeles tries to contact some of these celebrities through an agent or close family member, and those who answer do not attend classes at JRP or are not authorized to use their similarities. Celebrities, their representatives, or close family members who claim not to be involved with JRP schools include Lucille Ball, Heather Locklear, Barbara Walters, Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda, John Wayne, and Betty Ford. According to National First Ladies biography, Betty Ford works as a model for the JRP Agency. Vanity Fair article says Grace Kelly is a model in JRP agency.
