Plot

At this time, set after the Breaking Bad event, in black and white order, Saul Goodman, now goes by the name "Gene", manages the Cinnabon shopping center in Omaha, Nebraska. He has grown a mustache and is bald. While working, he suspects that customers recognize him, but this proves to be just paranoia. At night in his apartment, Saul drank a cocktail and watched his old VHS television commercial with a hangover.

In May 2002, James Morgan "Jimmy" McGill was a public defender who fought in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He currently represents three teenage boys and tries to convince the jury that their actions are just "boys to boys". In response, the prosecutor only plays a video that keeps three teenagers from entering the morgue and having sex with a disconnected head. After that, Jimmy complains of being paid too little for defense. He gets a call from a prospective client, to whom he pretends to be his polite Irish secretary. On his way out of the parking lot, Jimmy was stopped by Mike Ehrmantraut, the parking attendant, who refused to let him out without either a payment or a parking sticker provided by the court.

Later that day, Jimmy met in a diner with potential clients, Craig and Betsy Kettleman, who are being investigated for the loss of local funds. They hesitate to hire Jimmy. While trying to order flowers for Kettlemans while driving, Jimmy hit a man on a skateboard, whose twin sister recorded the incident on a video camera and threatened to call the police unless Jimmy paid them silently money. In response, Jimmy kicked the "victim", calling a clear ruse. After that, he returned to his "office" - a boiler room in a Vietnamese beauty salon. Through the post, he found a check for $ 26,000 from Hamlin Hamlin & amp; McGill, his brother Chuck's law firm, which he later torn into pieces. Jimmy confronts the partners, accusing them of trying to cheat Chuck out of his rights. On his way out, he sees Kettlemans entering and becoming agitated.

Jimmy visits Chuck, who suffers from a mental disorder and believes he has electromagnetic hypersensitivity. She needs visitors to leave their keys and phone in her mailbox and ground themselves before entering her home. He also has no working lights or refrigerators and he works with lanterns on manual typewriters. Chuck refused the purchase and showed that Jimmy stopped using the name "McGill" for his private company to avoid public confusion with HH & amp; M. Upset, Jimmy tracked down two skateboarders, Cal and Lars Lindholm, and showed the partnership, telling them how he started taking the "slip and fall" to earn easy money. He arranges for someone to be hit by a car driven by Betsy, but instead of stopping to check Cal's status after hitting him, the driver just drove. Cal and Lars chased, but when the car stopped, an elderly Hispanic woman came out. Unaware (or more likely, do not care) they have got the wrong person, they try to get money from him and follow him to his house. Jimmy arrived moments later to try and rescue them by posing as "court officers", but was drawn to the house at gunpoint by Tuco Salamanca.

Production

In July 2012, the Breaking Bad creator, Vince Gilligan suggests a possible spin-off series that focuses on Goodman.

In April 2013, the series was confirmed to be developed by Gilligan and Gould; the latter wrote the Breaking Bad episode that introduced the characters. In a July 2012 interview, Gilligan said that he liked "the idea of a lawyer event in which the main lawyer will do whatever it takes to stay out of court" including staying on the steps of the courthouse.

The show was filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Breaking Bad was also filmed. When filming began on June 2, 2014, director Vince Gilligan expressed some concerns about the possibility of disappointment from the presence of the series, in terms of audience reception. On June 19, 2014, AMC announced it has updated the series for the second season of 13 episodes for its premiere in early 2016, with the first season consisting of 10 episodes, and that the inaugural series was postponed until early 2015. The first teaser trailer debuted at AMC on August 10 2014, and confirmed its February 2015 premiere date.

In his review of the inaugural series, Mary McNamara of The Los Angeles Times concluded that "Saul's beauty is his unforgettable nature; no matter how terrible or terrible the situation may be, he can identify the next. Jimmy McGill does not know how to do that yet; Saul's Better Call will show us how he learned. "

So far, it's a great TV show with its own ability, covering familiar land , but it can still be a unique snowflake. "Hank Stuever of The Washington Post sorted it into" B "and wrote the series" true to the tone and style of the original, now-classic "series and that it "raises more questions in two hours than it will be ready to answer". Call Better Saul pose one simple question, but interesting: What happened to Jimmy McGill forcing him to transform himself into a cruel, hard, yet very entertaining lawyer, Saul Goodman? The man we know and love at Breaking Bad I, for one, wish to watch the story unfold. "

Some critics respond to skepticism before seeing the episode. Alessandra Stanley of The New York Times said: "It's common to fear spin-offs, some succeed, but a lot of disappointment. Not to worry about this prequel to Breaking Bad canon. Better Call Saul traces in love, if corrosive, the details of how Jimmy McGill, a debt-chasing loser, ambulance-chase, changed his name to Saul Goodman and became a consigliere drug traitor i> Better Call Saul is better than good: It's fun - in a brutal way, in a dark way, of course. "Chris Jancelewicz of The Huffington Post gave this episode an excellent review despite his initial skepticism , said: "It's so good, right from the start, that I'm almost embarrassed by the dubious creator/writer Vince Gilligan, the author, and lead actor Bob Odenkirk (Saul). Saul's Better Call is his return to New Mexico neighborhood yes ng-tried-and-true, sweeping shots of the sky-wide desert mixed with strip-mall luxuries, the juxtaposition juxtaposed with dark comedies, which, as well as Breaking Bad, are both jarring and amusing at the same time. You will find yourself laughing off from yourself. "

Robert Bianco from USA Today says "Face it up: When the AMC announces it has ordered a prequel for Breaking Bad, it's likely that many of us see it as a callow movement by the network losing new ideas for The old blush for all was worth it. Well, we were right - but what we failed to factor was the gift of Bob Odenkirk and creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould would bring to Saul's Better Call [...] and their ability to turn what appears to be a pig's ears into something that comes close to a silk purse. "He finally gave the episode a rating of 3.5 out of 4. One of the few negative reviews came from Tony Wong from The Toronto Star, "It's beautiful and lovingly shot, it's funny and it's dark, but many are asking Bob Odenkirk to perform without help."
