Bumble is a location-based social and dating application that facilitates communication between interested users. In heterosexual matches, only female users can make first contact with suitable male users, while in same-sex matches, a person can send a message first.

Whitney Wolfe Herd, co-founder of Tinder, founded Bumble shortly after leaving Tinder. Wolfe Herd sued Tinder for discrimination and sexual harassment and settled for more than $ 1 million in September 2014. Amid media attention surrounding the lawsuit, acquaintances and founder and CEO of Badoo Andrey Andreev reached out to Wolfe Herd via email, and the two met. Andreev advised him to return to the courtship room, and the couple eventually formed a partnership in which Andreev would receive a 79% stake in the company after an initial investment of $ 10 million along with additional investments and Wolfe Herd would function as founder, CEO and 20%. After switching to fashion, this app replaces the potential date with people of the same type of users who are also looking for friends. In June 2016, Bumble announced a partnership with Spotify that would allow users to link their Spotify accounts to their profiles to show their musical interest. In March 2017, the company announced its plan to launch a career-based career app, Bumble Bizz. In August 2017, Bumble partnered with the Anti-Pollution League in an attempt to remove users who displayed hateful symbols on their profiles. In October 2017, the company launched Bumble Bizz which also used the first female interface in an attempt to remove the "nature of the asking and sexism that exist in the network".

How it works
Users are required to login to Bumble via Facebook. Information from a user's Facebook account is used to build profiles with photos and basic information, including college and user work. Women must start their match conversations or matches disappear within 24 hours; good people in same-sex matches can reach out.
Features
Features include the ability for favorite conversations, to sort conversations, to send photo messages, and to swipe, allowing users to "like" potential matches by swiping right and swiping left to continue their search. Bumble released the "backtrack" feature in 2015 that allows users to cancel unintentional side attacks by shaking their phones. Three free "backtracks" are provided initially, which are replenished every three hours. Users have the option to immediately receive a new set of three backtracks by sharing Bumble on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, even though they are limited to one of these refills per day. There is a 24 hour period in a game where the conversation should begin or the game is lost.
BFF mode uses the same right or left swipe of the app dating mode and requires that the conversation begin within 24 hours to match potential friends. The conversation starts with a potential friend given a green color as opposed to yellow for the date. When the feature is launched, Bumble also announces that it will eventually release a dual-profile feature that allows users to curate profiles for dating or companionship. In April 2016, the Bumble app was updated to combat ghosting. As part of the update, if a user sends a message after being matched with a potential partner and does not respond within 24 hours the game will be lost. Prior to the update, men were given unlimited time to respond to messages from women the company saw as an unbalanced field of play. Updates are also launched for same-sex matches, with one party allowed to start and the other should respond within 24 hours.
Bumble launches a photo verification tool in September 2016 to ensure that app users are the same people in their profile pictures. To be verified, the user is required to submit a selfie from those who perform a particular pose, the image being reviewed by a real person ensuring the user is the person in the profile picture. Bumble is the first dating app to include photo verification in the US.
In early 2018, Bumble expanded to include same-sex dating.
Paid subscriptions
In August 2016, Bumble announced the launch of its paid service, Bumble Boost, which includes three premium features. Bumble Boost charges Ã, £ 3.99/$ 9.99 USD a month and adds Beeline, a user-likable user list, Rematch, which stores matches expired in the user queue for an additional 24 hours, and Busy Bee, which allows unlimited users 24- hour extension for matches.

Bumble has reported 22 million users as of November 2017, and 27 million downloads in February 2018. Wolfe Herd has stated that in the first eight months of the application, he saw 5 million unique conversations started, all by women. Women account for about 55% of all users, with 60% in the 18-25 year range and the other majority in the 25-35 range. Bumble also reports that its users spend an average of 62 minutes in apps every day. In October 2016, the app launched a new photo moderation rule that forbade mirror self, obscure faces, and user photos in underwear among others. According to the New York Times , in March 2017, Bumble has over 800 million games and 10 billion friction per month and is the second most popular Lifestyle app in the iOS App Store.

Feminist label
Bumble has been openly hailed as a "feminist Tinder." Its founders have confirmed this identity, calling the application "100 percent feminist," even though he has tried to distance Tinder's application in an interview. Wolfe Herd shares in an interview with Vanity Fair the concept behind the application: "If you see where we are in today's heteronormative rules of dating, the unwritten rule puts the stake lady under the man-man feels the pressure to go first in the conversation, and the woman felt the pressure to sit in her hand...
