combo washer (also known more simply as a washer-dryer in the UK) is a combination in a single washer and clothing washer cabinet. It should not be confused with the "stackable" combination of a separate washing machine and separate clothing dryer.

Description

Combine washer dryers are popular among those living in smaller urban properties because they only require half the amount of space normally required for separate clothes washers and dryers, and may not require external air vents. In addition, the combination of washer dryer allows clothes to be washed and dried "at once", saving users time and effort. Many combustion dryer washer units are also designed to be portable so they can be attached to the sink instead of requiring separate drains. Combination of washer dryer is a kind of home appliance that handles basic washing tasks and dry clothes. These machines are often referred to as "combustion dryer machines" or "all-in-one washing machine dryers," but basically a combo dryer washer is a standard or compact washing machine size, but is capable of performing washing and drying functions. Designed to handle various types of fabrics and clothing such as clothing, bed sheets, and towels, the washer dryer combos usually have functions such as temperature control, adjustable cycle control, and ventilation systems. Although the combo washers are not as effective and efficient as separate washers and dryers, fully functional washers and dryers, the combo provides a viable option for those who can utilize a compact machine that can wash and dry clothes.

Many consumers confuse the term "comboscope washing machine" with the same washing machine and dryer configuration as a stackable machine and a laundry center. The main design factor that distinguishes dryer dryer combos from other configurations is the fact that combo dryer washer is a single machine (usually a stand-alone washer size) that can perform washing and drying tasks in a single combo engine.

Stackable machines, on the other hand, are defined by two separate machines, washing machines and dryers, which are stacked on top of each other. These stackable machines are often a good choice for large families who still need the full capacity and functionality of the washer and dryer without having to compromise too much about space. Most stackable washer and dryer configurations come in a front-loading design that goes against the top-loading design, which makes it easier to access both the washer and dryer as they are stacked.

The "laundry center" is a compromise between stackable and combo configurations. Like a drying machine, laundry center is a one piece tool. Like the stackable configuration, the laundry center consists of two separate machines, a washer and dryer. In most laundry centers, dryers are mounted over a washing machine, making for a one-piece design offering a compact footprint from a combo dryer dryer with stackable washing machine functions and capacity.

History

Aside from the early wringer/washing machine in the mid-19th century, washers and dryers were not combined until the full electronic version of the machine was perfected better in the second half of the 20th century. Shortly after the first automatic washing was developed by Bendix Home Appliances in 1937, the same company also created the first combined combustion engine unit in 1953. Over the years, washing machines, dryers and combo machines have received many improvements. in technology, making better functionality, effectiveness, and efficiency. Currently, the combination unit of the washer dryer has many features to be found in typical washer and dryer. While these units are much more popular in Europe and some countries in the East, they are gaining popularity in the United States as a practical and functional laundry solution.

Typical features

Front loading design

Most washer combine dryer units are front-loading designs. This allows for easier access, better efficiency, and more effective leaching than top-loading designs. Instead of leaving only the clothes to soak in the water during all washing, as the top-loading machine does, the front loading design tilts the drum on its side, so that the drum contents are repeatedly pulled in and out of water throughout the washing cycle.

Unencensated condensation-free drying system

Most combustion dryer combos are ventless and are designed with a drying system that works differently from stand alone vented dryers. Instead of channeling the hot humid air outward, like a conventional dryer, the combo unit utilizes condensation similar to a condenser dryer. Dry hot air (er) enters the drum from front or back, and evaporates some moisture from falling clothing. This warm moist air is then drawn through the condensation chamber, and the extracted water is drained out of the drain hose to the sink or through the pipeline. These units are easily installed under cabinets, in cabinets or anywhere with electricity.

Usually in a separate condenser dryer, cool air is used to cool the process air from within the drum and to condense the vapor. In combination of dryer dryer, however, cold water is used instead. Water flows in the opposite direction into the air, allowing the air to cool and release its moisture, which is pumped out along with the water used to cool the air. These machines are usually longer than regular dryers, because combo units have smaller drums, so there is less volume to allow air circulation and the drum itself must be dried immediately after the washing cycle. This water-fed drying system consumes water both for washing and drying operations, and may not be suitable for areas where water is scarce.

In recent years alternative methods of condenser cooling have emerged.

Because condensation driers waste heat inside the building, they can increase the heat load of air conditioners in the summer or provide useful heat in the winter. Energy and water use should be evaluated for the entire system for a full year to ensure a valid comparison.

Automatic sensor and system

Combination of washer dryer is usually built with a number of sensors and systems to automate many washing and drying cycles. Some of the higher model washer dryer combos have sensors that monitor water levels, foam levels, temperature levels, and drying garments. The information collected by these sensors is used to control the speed of rotation, cycle setting, drainage system, operational noise, and other functions.

Child key feature

Some combination units of washer dryer have a child key feature to help keep the children and the machine itself safe. This lock usually prevents the door from opening when the unit is full of water or if the internal temperature is above a certain limit.

Capacity

The number of combustion dryer dryer units may vary depending on the unit type. Most have slightly smaller amounts than full-size machines. In 2017 LG made the only full-size washing machine available in the US. Like the equivalent difference between the washer and dryer, the washing capacity is greater than the drying capacity of most combo units. Airflow through the drum is an important part of clothes drying, so the difference is greater (these units can generally dry only 1/2 to 3/4 of their maximum washing capacity).

Combo heat pump

AEG-Electrolux debuted the first heat pump washer unit at IFA Berlin, September 2013 (AEG Okokombi). Commercialization of this product began in April 2014, and is currently available throughout Europe. The main benefit with respect to a standard washer-dryer is low-temperature drying (and thus, improved fabric maintenance); energy efficiency, as it uses 40% less electricity than the standard A-class washers (according to EU energy labels). AEG Okokombi is currently manufactured at Electrolux Porcia Plant (Italy), where it is designed and industrialized by R & amp; D locally, and it's still the only heatpump-dryer washer in the European Market, while Toshiba offers similar products (even if not compatible to European standards) in Asia.

Benefits

The main benefit of combination combination drying machines is their compactness. The small size of these machines is compared to the total space consumed by the separate washer and dryer suitable for small houses, apartments, condominiums and places where space is a problem. In addition to having a small footprint, combo units also have a small height, allowing them to enter limited places, such as under the kitchen table or in the closet.

Another potential benefit of combo dryer washing machines, as compared to larger separate machines, is portability. Some models have wheels that make it easy to move them in and out of different rooms, cabinets, or cabinets, and the ability to operate without a special gas or electrical outlet or sewer also makes installing or relocating the engine easier (no ventilation without engine ventilation can cause moisture problems, however). Some of these machines have even been installed in recreational vehicles.

Some combination unit drying machines are Energy Star certified, meaning that they meet minimum standards for energy efficiency. Some of these washing machines are also rated good for their water consumption. However, the overall environmental and financial impact of each installation should be calculated not only from the level of instantaneous energy and water consumption, but also the time to be spent per load. Combos with smaller capacities of separate machines may have to be run more than once for a large number of laundry machines that can be handled in a single pass, and in doing so can potentially use more energy or water per load than larger and separate machines even if it does have a lower power consumption. Conversely, a separate machine may be less efficient overall if its capacity is greater than that required for the load that will be required to be handled.

The combination unit of the dryer has most of the features found in modern washing machines and dryers. Combination engines, although half the size of the washing machine and separate dryer settings, may have the same price because they still have to contain all the component parts of both.

Disadvantages

In the past the capacity of combo washer was generally smaller than the full-size washing machine, and it also took longer to process the laundry load. Currently available washing machine dryer that can wash 9 kilograms (20 pounds) and dry 6 kilograms (13 pounds) (nominal rank); they are completely comparable to standard washing machines and dryers. Because washing 9 kg of clothes is quite unusual for regular customers, one can wash & even dry a large load with a satisfying appearance. Nevertheless, many users say they take wet laundry and dry their clothes in two batches to speed up the drying time. User review sites like Epinions.com are full of owners who say long drying times (even when compared to standard heat pump heaters), and this is one of the reasons why most combination washing machines get worse reviews than full-size washing machines and dryer

Another major disadvantage of old laundry washing machine combos is that they take significantly longer to dry clothes batches compared to stand-alone dryers. Stand-alone dryers using hot air or other heating elements to dry clothes in the time required for condensation-based drying systems in combination units. This is a weakness inherent in the design of a combo dryer washer, because the dryer has to work longer to drum and drain the cage and clothing in the drum. On average, clothes that weigh between 4-5 pounds (1.8-2.3 kg) will make the machine work no less than 4.5 hours. Currently available washing machines are much faster than before and can achieve substantial time savings, along with improved fabric maintenance and no shrinkage, as drying occurs at low temperatures.

Drying machine drying units that do not use heat pumps are also criticized because they are not as efficient as some stand-alone machines. For these machines, longer drying times from the engine dryer combo also make it difficult to increase efficiency, since the engine must stay in operation longer than stand alone drying machines. On the other hand, in the energy of the heat pump washing machine, energy is restored, and allows energy savings of about 50%.

Considering the weakness of the dryer dryer unit, some consumers may find this machine impractical. Small capacity on older versions, long drying times, poor efficiency ratings (with the exception of heat pump engines), and the price of all losses using this combo engine, which must be weighed against space savings and convenient hookup advantages.
