When his roommate, Kate Kavanagh, got sick and could not interview Christian Gray, a 27-year-old billionaire businessman, for a college newspaper, Ana agreed to replace him. At the headquarters of Christian's Seattle called Gray House, Ana stumbles during the meeting. Christian, who was the speaker of the WSU prefix of the year, was attracted to him; soon after, he visited the hardware store where Ana worked. She agreed with Ana's request for a photo shoot to accompany the article Ana had interviewed him.
Christian invites Ana for a cup of coffee, but she leaves abruptly, saying that she is not a man for her. Christian then sent a copy of the first edition of two of Thomas Hardy's novels, including Tess of the d'Urbervilles, as a gift.
Ana and her friends celebrate graduation at a local bar. After drinking too much, Ana spontaneously called Christian, saying that she returned books and berated her behavior. Christian went to the bar and found Ana, who passed out. He woke up the next morning in Christian's hotel room, relieved that they were not intimate.
Ana and Christian start meeting each other, though she insists that she signs a non-disclosure agreement that prevents her from revealing details about their futility. Christian explains that he has only links involving clearly defined slavery in signed contracts. Ana reveals that she is a virgin. Taking into account the agreement and negotiation of his own terms, and after visiting his "playroom", a room filled with toys, furniture, and BDSM equipment, he and Christian had sex.
Christian conferred Ana with gifts and help, such as new cars and laptop computers. After Ana and Kate move to Seattle, Ana continues to see Christian. At dinner at Christian parents' home, Ana suddenly says that she will leave the next day to visit her mother in Georgia. Later, Christian became frustrated when Ana stated that he wanted more than one side of the relationship he proposed. He was shocked when suddenly Christians arrived in Georgia, they had sex again but he soon left afterward, to tend to emergency in Seattle.
Upon returning home, Ana continues to see Christian, who wants further sexual experimentation. Ana initially agreed, but Christian emotionally moved away, annoying her. While still considering the contract, and in an attempt to understand Christian psychology, Ana asked him to show how he would "punish" himself for breaking the rules. Christian whipped Ana's ass six times with a belt. Irritated and disgusted, Ana broke up with Kristen after concluding that she was wrong for her and her practice was bound to be distorted and exaggerated.
At the alternative endpoint, both Ana and Christian experiences decline. The Christians jog in the rain, while Ana sobs in her apartment. Christian meets with Ana's gift with a note: "It reminds me of a happy time - --Ana".

Casting
Bret Easton Ellis stated that Robert Pattinson had been James's first choice for the role of Christian Gray, but James felt that the casting of Pattinson and teammate Twilight Kristen Stewart in the film would be "weird". Somerhalder later admitted that if he had been considered, the filmmaking process would eventually conflict with his filming schedule for The CW The Vampire Diaries series . On September 2, 2013, James revealed that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson have played as Christian Gray and Anastasia Steele, respectively. Another shortlist of actresses being considered for Anastasia's role includes Alicia Vikander, Imogen Poots, Elizabeth Olsen, Shailene Woodley, and Felicity Jones. Keeley Hazell auditioned for an unspecified role. Lucy Hale also auditioned for the film. Emilia Clarke was also offered the role of Anastasia but refused part due to nudity required. Taylor-Johnson will give each actress auditioned for the four-page Anastasia role to read a monologue from Ingmar Bergman Persona .
The studio originally wanted Ryan Gosling for Christianity, but he was not interested in the role. Garrett Hedlund is also considered, but he can not connect with the character. Stephen Amell says he does not want to play Gray's role because "I do not actually think it's so interesting... there's nothing about Christian Gray who really talks to me." Hunnam initially rejected the Christian role but later reconsidered it, after meeting with the head of the studio. Hunnam said about the audition process: "I feel really interested and excited about it so I went and read the first book to get a clearer picture of who this character is, and I feel more excited at the prospect of bringing it to life. Taylor-Johnson and I] suggested that I do the reading with Dakota, which was his favorite, and once we got into the room and I started reading with Dakota, I knew that I would want to do it just as much as the real chemistry between us. feels interesting and fun and strange and alluring. "In response to the negative fan reaction casting, producer Dana Brunetti said:" There are many things that go into not only visible casting, talent, availability, their desire to do so, chemistry with other actors , etc. So if your favorite is not thrown, then most likely because of something on that list it while still hating and keeping perspective. "
During October 2013, actress Jennifer Ehle was in talks for the role of Anastasia Carla's mother. On October 12, 2013, Universal Pictures announced that Hunnam had quit the movie due to a conflict with his FX series schedule of Sons of Anarchy . Alexander SkarsgÃÆ' Â¥ rd, Jamie Dornan, Theo James, FranÃÆ'çois Arnaud, Scott Eastwood, Luke Bracey, and Billy Magnussen are on the top list to replace Hunnam as Christian Gray. Rating and censorship
There is initial speculation that the film may receive an NC-17 rating in the United States. Studios typically steer clear of adult ratings simply because of the impact classification has on the film's commercial viability, with some theater chain refusing to show NC-17-rated movies. While screenwriter Marcel says he hopes the film will rank NC-17, producer De Luca anticipates a less restrictive R rating. On January 5, 2015, the MPAA gave the film a R rating, basing its decision on "strong sexual content including dialogue, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity, and language."
On January 30th, in Australia, the film was rated MA15 by ACB for "strong sex scenes, sexual themes and nudity". On February 2, 2015, BBFC UK classified the film with 18 certificates, mentions "strong sex". In Canada, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia, the film was rated on 18A by OFRB, MFCB, AFR, and BCFCO, respectively, for "irritating or annoying scenes, and partially or full naked in brief sexual situations." In Quebec, RÃÆ'à © gie du cinÃÆ' à © ma rated the movie under category 16 for its erotism. In France, the film is ranked 12th. In Lebanon, the film was ranked NC-21. In Argentina, the Cinematography Exhibition Advisory Committee (INCAA ranking arm) rated the SAM16/R movie.
The anti-pornography watchdog group Morality in the Media believes that the movie's R ratings "severely undermines the themes of film violence and does not adequately inform parents and customers of movie content", and that the MPAA encourages sexual violence by letting the film by no rating NC -17.
The film is scheduled for release February 12, 2015 in Malaysia, but was denied a certificate by the Malaysian Film Censorship Board (LPF) for its "unnatural" and "sadistic" content. The LPF chairman, Abdul Halim Abdul Hamid, said Fifty Shades is "more pornography than movies." The film is also banned in Indonesia, Kenya, North Caucasus Russia, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Papua New Guinea, Cambodia, and India. The film was released in Nigeria for a week, before being removed from theaters by the National Film and Video Censorship Board (NFVCB). The studio will not pursue theatrical release in China.
The film's sex scenes were censored after protests from various religious groups in the Philippines, and as a result were in limited release in the country with an R-18 rating from MTRCB. The same cut version was released in Zimbabwe.
About 20 minutes cut from the film to be played in Vietnam, without leaving the sex scene. The scene where Ana is struck with the belt is completely skipped.
Campaign opponents
On January 28, 2015, a campaign in the United States by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation initiated two petitions to boycott the release of the film. Their website makes over 50 allegations that the film has a negative impact on the community. It said, "Hollywood is advertising the Fifty Shades story as an erotic love story, but it's really about sexual harassment and violence against women. The porn industry has made men and women receive messages that sexual violence is fun. < i> Fifty Shades modeled this porn message and Hollywood cashed the check. "On February 7, one petition had collected more than 53,000 signatures.
On February 2, in Michigan, a man petitioned to stop the film's launch at the local Celebration! Cinema. Despite the men's efforts, the cinema president refused to cancel the movie's launch. He said, "We've been in business for 70 years and people often object to the content, and it's not our job to censor the widespread film content, it's not in the best interest of us. it sold 3,000 tickets before its release and is expected to sell a total of 10,000 tickets.
The American Family Association called for the theater to not show the film: "The irony is not lost that the main character of the film is named, 'Christian,' while the film presents everything but the 'Christian' view of intimacy... It is symbolic of abuse, and we call on all cinema to refuse to promote the abuse on their screen. "
Thomas Williams of Notre Dame Center for Ethics and Culture commented on the movie's launch in the United States on Valentine's Day, stating "The irony decision of Universal Pictures" to release the slave-erotic film Fifty Shades of Gray on a day dedicated to honoring a Christian martyr overly observed by many observers, who seem to find the choice is not classy at best.
