The Bank Board Bureau (BBB) ââis an autonomous body of the Government of India assigned to improve the governance of the Public Sector Bank, recommends the election of heads of state banks and financial institutions and to assist banks in developing strategies and capital improvement plan. In February 2016, the Modi government approved a proposal to prepare the BBB and start functioning from April 2016. BBB is working as a step towards governance reform at the Public Sector Bank (PSB) as recommended by P.J. Nayak Committee.
Bhanu Pratap Sharma is the new Chairman of the Mumbai-based Bureau. He is stationed at RBI Headquarters in Mumbai.
The BBB is part of the Indradhanush Plan of government.
