The lyrics begin to describe an ideal fantasy woman starting with a simple wish for a woman with short skirts and a long jacket and going to be much more complicated and very specific, as if telling a story about a certain woman.
John McCrea said the song was "about prosperity and depression" and the strange behavior of human marriage rituals.
